taking advantage of winter
yesterday morning i took advantage of monday's snowfall and spent nearly two hours on my cross country skis. the sun was out and the cold overnight temperature had dried out some of the heavy, wet snow that had fallen. beautiful feathers of ice covered some of the slopes near the woods and ice crystals had formed on branches of trees and the plants near any open water. everything looked like rock candy.
i was the first person to lay tracks across the preserve and everywhere i went i stopped to look behind at how far i'd come. that's been my mantra these past few days as i await PET scan results and prepare for my biopsy. look how long you've been doing this, see how far you've come. as far as i know, there are options for the many scenarios that could unfold. right now, though, you don't know anything, you don't have answers, so live life as though there isn't anything wrong. because, at this moment, there isn't anything wrong.
and let me tell you, that fresh air, those blue skies, the dazzling white snow - it was all confirmation i was doing exactly what i should have been doing yesterday morning. and there's not much that makes me happier.
