another country heard from...
i wish i could say i've been hanging out here for the past week. no, no, mostly i have been in bed. the one-two punch of amazing fatigue from anti-seizure medicine (gladly, that's behind me once again) and terrible, demoralizing nausea from any combination of factors. some days have been better than others and since getting my hands on some zofran (ah, hello again, my dearest and most hated frenemy) on monday afternoon things have improved drastically. i won't go so far as to say my appetite is back but i can eat without the fear of the likelihood my meal revisiting me. i've been able to go for a few walks and have been sleeping well.
in addition to starting the zofran i stopped the keflex, the oral antibiotic i've been on since april. mentally i was falling to pieces every time i had to take it. it had kept me at a low-level state of nausea for weeks, but one i found completely bearable, if a little uncomfortable. but in combination with anesthesia drugs and keppra i think it was just too much. i'll save the gory details, but suffice it to say i have been reminded of my days of nausea during chemo and, like the steroids' side effects earlier this year, nausea is not something i'd wish upon my worst enemy.
so, the plan. sit, rest, recuperate. i get my sutures removed next thursday and each day mom assures me my incision is clean and looks great, reminding me the time it was infected it wasn't without little scabs, etc, like this one is now. then, how did this happen, it is time for my CT scan and meeting with dr. evans the following week, plus a trip to the neuro-opthamologist. then it is july and we have been doing this for way too much of the year. it already feels like that's the case.
