when it rains...

it has been a long week.  radiation is starting to get tiresome.  i try to be positive about it, but i am getting tired.  it is harder to be positive when you're tired, even moreso when your hair falls out and the inside of your ears is sunburned.  radiation burned.  but, it is the weekend now and there's not much on the schedule other than napping and some warmer weather, finally.

but, really, it was a long week because it wasn't the best birthday week.  the highlight was family dinner on easter, and dinner with my coworkers on wednesday night.  the lowlight?  well, dad was admitted to the hospital on wednesday night and following some tests on thursday it was determined he had to have bypass surgery yesterday.  the surgery went well and as of last night he was doing okay - we even got to talk to him, something they had told us wouldn't happen until today.  i haven't been to see him but mom has, and she is holding up alright.  the dog is keeping me company as i try to figure out how i can help, how i can be of use.

dad and i are very similar and i think that's why we tend to butt heads from time to time.  we are stubborn, but we are loyal, and those are two characteristics i think have taken me this far and i am sure they will aid dad in the coming days and weeks, even months.

to say i am sick of this is an understatement.  i am not sure how much a family can handle but we are being put to the test so far this year.  we are operating on a day-to-day basis and that's the best we can do right now.  i wish i could somehow transport us to summer at the cabin, but i'm not a magician and the radiation isn't giving me new brainpower.  sigh.
