before the cold
i went for a 20-mile ride around the neighborhood on wednesday night, enjoying temperatures in the low 70's for what i hope is the last time this year. the leaves are in differing stages of turning; the colors contrast beautifully with the still-rich green grass and leaves that have yet to fade. i'm guessing the arrival of colder temps will bring the colors out to peak this weekend and soon enough we'll be left with the look of winter. the maple in our front yard is always one of the last to go, and we'll enjoy the colors until mid-november barring any big wind or rain storms.
here are some shots from my ride. i just took quick ones because as much as i wanted to stop and soak in the view at every corner, these days i battle the light when riding in the late afternoon. soon it will only be time for mid-day and morning rides.
