love yoooou

resolutions, guidelines, goals, aspirations, things i know i'll write but never do. there is so much and so little on my mind these days. i guess in the simplest form, my resolution can be reduced to the following:
1. live
that can be further complicated as such:

a. thrive
b. don't be worried or scared or sad or angry
b.1. and if i get worried or scared or sad or angry, realize why, ask for a hug or a kick in the ass or an ear to listen to it and move on back to a
c. smile widely every day
d. take time to breathe
e. nap
f. eat my fruits and veggies
g. love
and so there are probably other biggies that can be broken down into more smaller bits and it all starts looking a little like this is a good idea...

but serisouly, here are some more in a not very organized order:
2. be more involved in the cancer advocacy world, specifically dealing with lung cancer and young adult issues
3. race a mountain bike
4. run a half marathon (Caesar Rodney in Wilmington in March?)
5. compete in a duathalon (Hibernia Park in April?)
6. start going to yoga again
7. read a book a month
8. take a class
9. go to a new country
10. ski more
11. vacation at the lake
12. ride a road bike a whole lot. commute to work once a week (or more) in the summer.
13. take lots of pictures
14. see lots of friends
15. don't have cancer
16. don't worry about having cancer
17. ride a century in the Livestrong Challenge in August. (join me)
18. climb more often, inside and out.
19. stop making lists and just do things.
so there it is, not only in writing, but somewhere i won't throw it away or scribble on it, published on the inferweb so everyone can hold me to it. or not.
all these thoughts are of course a result of the new year (this is where it gets more fun, folks), which we rang in at Spruce Mountain in Jackson, NH.

as you can see, the accomodations suck at chez brad. riiiight. aside from the funk of 20+ pairs of shoes and ski boots fouling the air by day three or four, it is a little slice of heaven. there were nine on hand for this year's festivities which included but were not limited to:

1. digging numerous (my count has it around 5) cars out of snowbanks.
2. lodging said cars into snowbanks.
3. falling on our asses on the hill to the cabin.
4. eating twenty pounds of cheese and bread apiece at apres ski fon-don't.

5. learning a new way to shotgun foamies.
6. dance partying and learning new moves from otus.

7. incredible skiing front and back country.
8. napping.
9. have i said eating?
10. bonfiring.

11. for me, taking a side trip to portland, me for snowball fighting, tourist photo taking, picking up rotten, and to instill a desire to live by the ocean and mountains someday sooner than it really can happen.
12. making plenty of alpine starts
13. quaffing PBR and scotch, at least one time together
14. donning matching sweatshirts

15. checking out eqyptian history
16. laughing
i think i might speak for more than just myself when i say i wish i was still there. for the skiing and the snow and the woodstove and the lack of work and the moutains, but more than anything for the love of my friends and the laughter and our friendship.
so since i can't be there, last night i went out and pulled down a 5.9- roof move at DRG. i had to take a break, but i did it. next time i'll do it clean.
