living strong
it's that time of year again, folks. i've registered for the 100-mile ride at the 2008 Philly Livestrong Challenge, benefitting the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
the LAF provides a community where one is incredible necessary; it provides information in a simple and easy to understand format when it is at its most needed; it reminds us all - cancer or no - to be stronger than we can imagine. i urge you to visit the website in case you haven't before. it is listed under "in the know" on the links list to the right.
please take a moment to think about whether you can make a contribution. my sights are set high and I appreciate any ammount you can give. please click on the first link on the list to the right "join the fight".
last year's event was one of the highlights of the summer, and knowing it was there at the end of August motivated me through my recovery. this year i will be motivated to train and work hard in order to last 100 miles on a bike. wendy joined me last year; I would love more company this time! drop an email or register yourself if interested. there's a 5k run/walk, and 10, 40, 70, and 100 mile ride options.
the weekend was one full of emotion and i found myself surrounded by energetic, caring, compassionate people. my family found strength in seeing other families supporting other survivors. everyone's been affected by cancer. this weekend gives us the opportunity to raise awareness that cancer is something that needs to be a national priority. i'd love to work to raise awareness and money for another cause; but there just isn't one i think is more worthwhile.
