i'm a boomerang, you see
back on the bike following a brief hiatus due mainly to the lack of daylight and a surplus of work. it felt great to be out in shorts, cruising down the hills (of course i love the downhills) and i even thoroughly enjoyed working my way back up out of the low points. southern chester county was splendid in the late afternoon sun and i marveled at just how incredible the leaves that remain on the trees look in the light. there were lots of other folks out riding and everyone was in a friendly mood, offering hellos and waves and even a happy thanksgiving. sometimes i don't even get a wave. it was a perfect afternoon, and i think it had everyone floating on a slight stream of air. my spirits were bolstered by feeling so familiar with my bike. so good to be back together for a while in the sunshine this afternoon.
this evening i baked apple and pumpkin pies and made an attempt to let my aching muscles rest. i went climbing last night, for the first time in a few years. i guess i never really thought about how great a workout climbing was. i know it made me sore, but this is a new level of climbing soreness. i didn't ask too much of my body, especially my still numb right side. but it was so good to be back on a rope and i can't wait to do it again.
another spring-like day tomorrow to go along with the turkey and then we're back into late fall. it was so good to finally wake up and see the sun this morning; a couple more bright days would be lovely. but i'm thankful for it all, no matter which way it comes.
happy thanksgiving, all.
