improvement...

just a quick note to let you know i am still in the hospital, but i am doing very well. each day there is some small improvement to report.

today the doctors removed my fentanyl bag from my epidural. it is still in my back , in case i need it again, but i have been trying out perkisat. the last dose didn't go down too well - made my stomach contents revisit me. so next round we will try dilaudid, which i took after my last surgery. i hope they can keep the pain away.

the chest tube is still in and is sore. i'd really like it out, but i still have a small air leak from my lung so it has to wait until tomorrow or some other time. there is a chance i will go home with it and a special pump, just for now. but i would like it out.

all is is good - thank you to all who have stopped in to say hi. it makes me so happy. thanks, also, for the comments, emails, and letters. they get me through the days.

i am up and walking around and can eat just about anything i want, which makes life easier.

needless to say, i am really looking forward to heading home soon. and to seeing some snow here in PA.

Hang in there. I took dilaudid and that seemed to work ok post op. They gave me oxicotin and percocets to take at the same time during chemo... yep, I barfed too. Of all the pain meds, I liked morphine the least (made me too itchy) and dilaudid the best.

Hopefully the dilaudid will work well for your post op and not make you sick. There is nothing worse than being sick after surgery.

What a weird conversation to have between two people under the age of 33. Hang in there... soon this will all be behind you... and you'll be so much stronger for all of it.
